LAND EXPROPRIATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION AND PUBLIC REPRESENTATION

Posted on Posted in Legal opinion

It is common knowledge these days that the parlement has already passed the proposition that the Constitutional Review Committee investigate mechanisms as to how the constitution, in especially Section 25 of the Constitution can be amended in order to find possibilities on which land can be expropriated without compensation.

The Review Committee was awarded time to the 30th of August 2018, in order to compile a report regarding the outcome of their investigation. This review committee consists of various representatives from various parties.

In order to conduct their investigation properly, the committee requires public participation and representations from the public in order to finalize their report.

Consequently the committee called upon public participation, and granted the public time until the 31st of May 2018 in to submit queries, representations and objections.

In the event where you wish to submit a query, representation or an objection, you can do so by emailing same to Mr Pat Jayiya at pjayiya@parliament.gov.za.
